The National Peace Council (NPC) and its key partners – the Christian Council of Ghana, Office of the National Chief Imam, and the Catholic Bishops Conference of Ghana – have issued a statement urging an end to the politics of religion.
The organizations expressed their concern over certain insinuations and publications on electronic and social media platforms, which aim to incite religious fervor during the 2024 Election.
As the national institution responsible for peace in the country, the National Peace Council and its partners reminded all Ghanaians of the remarkable way in which they have coexisted peacefully despite their religious, political, and ethnic differences.
The statement emphasized that it is the duty of the Ghanaian people to continue to tolerate and coexist with each other’s diversity.
The 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana recognizes and protects the right of all individuals to practice any religion freely and manifest such practice, as stated in Article 21(1) (c).as stated in Article 21(1) (c).
