A Syrian national has been arrested at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut, Lebanon, after allegedly arriving from Accra, Ghana, with approximately 40 kilogrammes of suspected cocaine concealed in two pieces of luggage.

In a statement signed by P/NCO Francis Opoku, the Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations dated November 1, 2026, confirmed that the arrest was carried out on Saturday, October 31, following a coordinated anti-drug trafficking operation involving Ghanaian and Lebanese law enforcement authorities.

According to NACOC, the operation was part of a controlled delivery exercise aimed at identifying and apprehending suspects at both ends of the alleged drug supply chain.

The Commission disclosed that efforts were underway to arrest other suspected accomplices in Ghana as investigations continued into the shipment and the wider international criminal network believed to be behind the operation.

NACOC described the arrest as the outcome of close intelligence-sharing and operational cooperation between Ghanaian and Lebanese authorities.

The development underscores growing international efforts to combat cross-border drug trafficking and dismantle criminal networks involved in the illicit narcotics trade.
