The Manhyia South MP in press statement released on Friday said, there was no where he insulted the Member from Tamale North, Suhuyini Alhassan that he is ‘fool’, which triggered the misunderstanding that broke up after the report of Ayariga bribery was read on the floor of Parliament as alleged by Sam George.

Reacting to the allegations NAPO, as he is known by many said, “first I absolutely and unequivocally deny that I used that word on Hon. Suhuyini during the proceedings or at any other time in Parliament yesterday”, he noted.

He continued that, “it must be noted that during the yesterday’s proceedings, only four Members of Parliament spoke, and they were the Majority and Minority Leaders, Hon. Alban Bagbin, 2nd Deputy Speaker and Hon. Ayariga. The proceedings were televised live, and cleary I would have been heard by viewers uttering those words if indeed Hon. Sam George heard them as he sits far away on the other side of the House.”

He added that even the Speaker whom he sits close to too would have heard him, and would swiftly ordered that he withdraw that word, but no such thing occurred and the Hansard which has verbatim records of proceedings will vindicate him.

The Ningo Prampram made the allegation against his colleague MP from the other side that, it was he, Napo, who triggered the anger in Parliament on that evening saying, “Napo had called him (Alhassan Suhuyini) a fool. During the proceedings, he called him ‘kwasia’ and that is what triggered the whole thing. He continuously alleged that “four weeks ago he called me a fool on the floor of the House simply because I had asked the Speaker to ask him if he was wearing a school uniform or was properly attired to Parliament.”

But the Legislator from Manhyia South, who also doubles as the Minister in charge of Education, has also debunked such allegation and added, there was no such time that he referred to his colleague in the manner Sam George is alleging, and the records (Hansard) are there to show.

“I take grave exception to the scurrilous and unfounded allegations by my colleague Member of Parliament. The people of Ghana have reposed utmost confidence in us by electing us to represent them in the House. It is therefore important that at all times we conduct ourselves with decorum to preserve the integrity of the house and to justify that confidence”, he concluded.

Napo is also calling on the honourable member from Ningo Prampram to swiftly render apology for that unfounded allegation.
