The owner of an alleged unregistered lotto company dubbed ‘The Rulers’ in Kumasi has been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for fraud.
Mr. Fordjour Richard, whose company is not registered with the National Lottery Authority (NLA), has allegedly been paying an outrageous commission of over 40%.
This incidentally destroys the legitimate business of the Lotto Marketing Companies who sell directly for the NLA for a commission of 20%.
Head of Public Relations Unit of NLA, Mr. Razak Opoku, in an interview stated that payment of outrageous Commission at the detriment of Lotto Marketing Companies would not be tolerated by lotto authority.
Per a roadmap, very soon both the Lotto Marketing Companies and Private Lotto Operators would have the same Commission.
Mr. Fordjour Richard, he said, has not made any effort to apply to the NLA for a license but has been deceiving the staking public in the Ashanti Region that he has acquired a license from the NLA to operate lottery and pays a commission of 40%.
Mr. Razak Opoku stressed that for the records Mr. Fordjour Richard’s Company “The Rulers” is not licensed by the NLA.
He and the Company have not paid any license fees to the NLA for registration and stressed the company has not been permitted by the National Lottery Authority to pay the Commission of 40%.
He urged the general public to report any Private Lotto Operator who pays outrageous Commission to the National Lottery Authority.
