Gov’t to present Coronavirus Policy Statement to Parliament tomorrow

Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, will present the government’s Policy Statement on measures to curb the spread of the Coronavirus to Parliament tomorrow Wednesday 8th April 2020.

Speaker Professor Aaron Michael Oquaye, has therefore recalled the House from suspension to resume sittings.

The resumption is in accordance with Standing Order 6.

The House went on an indefinite suspension last Saturday instead of rising Sine Die, which the Speaker explained is to ready members for unforeseen exigencies.

Government has initiated a number of programmes to enhance the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic including Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP).

A loan facility from the International Development Association (IDA) of US$35 million dollars has also been approved by the Parliament to fund the fight against the pandemic.
