President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has, in a candid revelation, admitted overlooking development initiatives in Ekumfi.
This, he said, is due to the constituency’s voting pattern in the 2020 elections, which led to the defeat of Francis Ato Cudjoe, the then Member of Parliament.
During an interaction with traditional leaders from Ekumfi at the Jubilee House, President Akufo-Addo expressed his dissatisfaction with the electoral decision that ousted Ato Cudjoe from the Parliament.
Despite elevating Ato Cudjoe to the position of Deputy Minister, the constituents voted him out.
“Ato Cudjoe was your MP, and I made him a Deputy Minister, and you voted him out in the last elections, and because of that, I did not pay attention to development in your area.”
“I have to be honest with you, but since you have brought it up, I will pay attention to it,” remarked President Akufo-Addo.
The traditional leaders, visiting the Jubilee House to appeal for developmental projects to enhance living standards in Ekumfi, conveyed their concerns to the President.
Despite the disappointment stemming from the election outcome, President Akufo-Addo assured the leaders that he would make efforts to address the development needs of the area.
In the 2020 parliamentary elections, despite losing in 2016, Abeiku Crentsil emerged victorious against Francis Ato Cudjoe.
The President’s commitment to now refocus on Ekumfi’s development signifies a response to the community’s plea for attention to uplift their living conditions.
