Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has emphasized the critical need for the government and educational stakeholders to foster an enabling environment and entrepreneurial avenues in Ghana.

The goal is to prevent the mass migration of energetic young graduates seeking opportunities abroad, a trend that poses a serious threat to the nation’s future.

Addressing the 57th Congregation of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Saturday November 25, Otumfuo Osei Tutu stressed the potential negative impact of professionals, including nurses, doctors, and teachers, leaving for promising opportunities overseas.

“If this migration trend continues unchecked, it would jeopardize the development and growth of the country, with the departure of potential leaders hindering progress,” he stated.

As the Chancellor of KNUST, Otumfuo Osei Tutu called for collective efforts to transform Ghana into a compelling nation, encouraging its youth to stay and contribute to its development.

He urged the government and educational stakeholders to adopt innovative strategies that create a conducive environment and entrepreneurial opportunities, facilitating job creation and retaining young graduates.

The Asantehene also implored all stakeholders to intensify efforts against illegal mining activities, emphasizing the severe damage caused to lands and water bodies.

He urged the government to take decisive action to restore the country’s natural resources, drawing attention to his own actions against individuals from his kingdom involved in illegal mining.
