CPC holds WPP Summit as it chokes 100 Years

The Communist Party of China (CPC) on Tuesday, 8th July, 2021 held World Political Parties Summit (WPP) to commemorate the party’s Centenary anniversary in Beijing, China.

The World Political Parties Summit which was held via zoom was addressed by the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The WPP virtual summit recorded over 500 representatives of parties from 160 countries such as Argentina, South Africa, Philippines, Russia, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Vietnam, Eritrea, and Burkina Faso among others.

. President Xi Jinping in his keynote address appealed to the leadership of political parties worldwide to unite to oppose any country that engages in what he described as “technology blockades”.

“Together, we must oppose all acts of unilateralism in the name of multilateralism, hegemony, and power politics,” President Jinping told a virtual gathering.

President Xi Jinping renewed CPC’s commitment to work towards “building a community with a shared future for mankind” This is why we should ensure and reject any country that engages in “technology blockades” and “developmental decoupling”.

According to the organisers, the CPC and WPP Summit are one of many events been held by Beijing to commemorate the centenary of the ruling party.

The summit was designed to promote a better understanding of China and the CPC, and the CPC’s concern for the future and destiny of mankind.

The theme for the CPC and WPP Summit, was “Seeking happiness for the people: The responsibility of political parties,”

Founded in July 1921 with just over 50 members, the CPC has grown into the world’s largest political party with more than 95 million members.

On July 1, China held a grand gathering marking the centenary of the CPC in Beijing. Xi announced a landmark victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, the first centenary goal of the Party.

Speaker after speaker at the virtual summit re-echoed the need for the parties to work together to ensure peaceful co-existence.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong is called on the representatives of political parties to put the interest of their people first in all they do.

Phu Trong also tasked the over 500 representatives of the various political parties to do all it can to protect the environment. Saying the issue of climate change should future prominently in their scale of preference.

In Ghana, the commemorative centenary anniversary was observed by members of the ruling New Patriotic Party, some selected journalists, and the general public at the plush Tang Palace Hotel in Accra.
