Member of Parliament (MP) for Damango Constituency in the Savannah Region and Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor on Friday 29th January, 2021 cut sod for the rehabilitation of 5.0kms of selected roads in the Damango township.
The cost of the contract is GHc24 million and it’s to be completed in 24 months.
The project also include a 3.6km dual carriage road making it the first of its kind in the Savannah Region.
The project which is expected to be completed in January 2023 will ease vehicular traffic for travelers to Upper West Region who uses Damango township road, the regional capital of Savannah region.
Mr. Jinapor in his address during the sod cutting ceremony in Damango, reminded the people of the promise he made during the election 2020 campaign which he promised their roads are constructed for development.
He said some areas in the municipality lacks accessibility and will soon be opened up by creating access roads to enable free movement within the regional capital and its neighboring towns.
He also hinted of expanding the Damango Hospital road which according to him, has never seen rehabilitation works since its construction under former President Kuffour regime, adding that Damongo-Kotito-Buipe road will also see changes in the coming years under his regime as the Member of Parliament for the good people of Damango Constituency.
“Under my term as your MP for the constituency, I will work to make sure we benefit from lot of developmental projects which will include developing the Mole National Park and other to attract business for all,” he said.
The Savannah Regional minister designate Mr. Saeed Muhazu Jibril also in his address assured the people of the Savannah Region that the President’s year of roads will see a lot of roads in the region getting a facelift before the end of the year 2024.
He said again that political leadership must always collaborate with the technocrats to enhance development which he thanked especially the department of roads for the good works over the years.
The contractor for the project, N-S Naschon Company Limited in an address assured the people of Damongo that the project would be completed even before the time frame given and appealed to the government to make sure all finances are put in place for the progress of the project which the member of Parliament has assured him of the support of the government.
