Businessman and Managing Director of Amaadi Cold Store, Edward Akufo-Addo, has slapped Class Media Group (CMG) with a GH¢10 million lawsuit for defamation.

Joined in the suit are radio show host, Kwabena Bobie Ansah, Mensah Thompson of the Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) and Executive Director Good Governance and Advocacy Group Ghana, Listowel Nana Kusi-Poku.
The plaintiff, also a brother to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is seeking an apology and retraction of the defamatory statement and a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants, their servants, agents or assigns from repeating such claims against him
A writ filed at an Accra High Court indicates that on 29/05/2021, Bobie Ansah hosted a programme on Accra FM, which is owned by CMG dubbed “The Citizen Show” with Thompson and Kusi-Poku as panellists and also broadcasted live on Accra FM’s Facebook page, Sunyani FM (88.1) and Taadi FM 99.1, which are all owned by the Class Media Group.
Mr. Edward Akufo-Addo averred that in the course of the program, Mensah Thompson and Nana Kusi-Poku aided and encouraged by Bobie Ansah made false and malicious statements about his person to the effect that he is the one using Ghana’s Presidential Jet, the Falcon.
According to Plaintiff, the statements are utterly false and a product of the Defendants’ malicious imagination and calculated solely to disparage him and bring his name into disrepute.
He argued that save that the President is his brother, he holds no public office and has never had personal use of the Presidential Jet.
Mr. Akufo-Addo noted that though members of his family have played paramount roles in public service in Ghana, he has throughout his life endeavoured to live a private life devoid of public eyes and has succeeded until the impugned publication by the defendants.
According to him, his reputation and character has been severely damaged and has suffered considerable embarrassment, emotional torment and distress while his person has also been brought into public contempt.
He indicated that unless the Defendants are restrained they will continue to publish similar and other defamatory statements about him and prayed the Court to grant the damages he is seeking.
