The Office on Thursday, May 4 officially wrote to Mrs. Attionu, requesting information pursuant to Section 19 of Act 804/10. She was directed to meet report at the Office on Monday, May 8 at 10:00am.
But lawyers of Mrs. Attionu say she has been out of the country for some time now “on an important family assignment”. “She has committed to full cooperation, without prejudice, immediately on her return,” a statement from her lawyers, Lexkudoz Law Firm, said on Monday.
The lawyers expressed readiness to “begin the process of engagement with EOCO” in her absence and until her return. They, however, warned the public including the media “that any attempt to denigrate Mrs. Attionu or soil her hard-earned reputation with insinuations, fabrications and or twisted commentary will be met frontally and forcefully with all the legal arsenal at our disposal”.
Mrs. Attionu was appointed as Acting CEO by the John Mahama-led government in 2013 but resigned early this year on the eve of the changeover of government.
