The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, clarified that he has not received any personal donation from the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, during his visit to North Tongu.
The pictures depicting him receiving a donation for the flood victims were misleading, according to the lawmaker.
Mr. Ablakwa emphasized that during the minister’s visit, he was taken on a tour to show him the devastation caused by the Akosombo Dam Spillage, which affected over 12,000 residents in the North Tongu area alone, with more than 1,500 houses affected.
The Finance Minister was reportedly shocked by the level of devastation, which he reiterated in his budget statement.
However, despite the disaster affecting thousands of people, there seem to be no plans from the government for the resettlement of victims.
The displaced victims are still stuck in various camps under very uncomfortable conditions.
