According to the board, the facility when completed will be a sacred place for Christians in the country.
Secretary to the Board, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng said the National Cathedral will also serve as a venue for various activities in the national and Christian calendar in the country.
He explained on an Accra based television station and monitored by MyNewsGh.com that the various Christian denominations can usually use the cathedral for their interdenominational services, adding that its 1,400 seating capacity makes it fit for such a purpose.
He further explained that the cathedral can also be used for thanksgiving services after the swearing-in of presidents in the country.
Another use for the Cathedral he announced, is for high profile funerals, citing the demise of former United Nations Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, saying his funeral could be held in that auditorium.
He reiterated the position that the public purse will not be affected as far as the project is concerned, pointing out that the president during the inauguration of the board mandated them to solicit funds from corporate Ghana for the project.
Ghanaians, he explained should support such a noble course since it will bring tremendous benefits to the country.
