This is according to the president of NUGS who addressed a press conference at the Accra International Press Center on Thursday. According to NUGS, though they are not oblivious of the challenges at their front, they find intriguing that some NDC communicators would pick up such an issue and would want to bring in “their Political differences”.
“We however want to send a word of caution to the communicators of a certain Political Party which is trying to bring their Political differences to this issue.” He said.
“When this issue started, they had Political power and every right as well as the resources to deal with the issue but they decided to pitch camp with one side and illegally sent flag staff house police to go and arrest me and manhandle me. After I had been taken to Police Cells tour (from one police station to the other), I was kept at the Greater Accra Regional police headquarters for over four 4 days without bail nor charge.
When Students, Concerned Citizens and other youth groups paid me a visit at the police cells, they were met with a severe “Order from above” whipping.
It is therefore intriguing that members of this same Political grouping have now had a voice and are talking about the issue.
We implore on them to put a stop to it as soon as possible and allow us to handle our own issues at our level.” He added.
NUGS also used the opportunity to call on the publishers of daily post newspaper to retract a “disparaging” report made against its president on the Wednesday 16th January, 2017 edition of the paper.
The press conference was also used to comment on the appointments made by President Akufo-Addo and was also used to outline their programs of activities for month of February.
