An aspiring New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate in the Akuapem South Constituency is pursuing a very dangerous course in his desperation to unseat the incumbent MP, Hon. O. B. Amoah.

Kwame Gyau, who is also battling allegations of falsifying his age, in various radio interviews in Accra and campaigns across the Constituency, has aggressively criticized the NPP Government for not constructing roads and connecting electricity to communities.

His negative strategy of claiming to be the messiah of the Akuapem South Constituency, and giving ammunition to the NDC to attack the Akufo-Addo government has received very negative comments and condemnation from the electorate in the NPP stronghold.

The aspirant deliberately refers to the outstanding major works and claims the electorate will vote against the NPP because the Government has neglected or refused to carry out the projects in the Constituency.

The Gyau team in their desperation refer to the Dome-Brekusu-Kitase road and the Aburi-Adamrobe-Oyibi link projects and claim the Government has refused to tackle them because of Hon. O. B. Amoah.

They also refer to seven communities in the Constituency yet to be connected to the national grid as part of the government’s failure.

What these mischievous characters have refused to acknowledge are the far reaching efforts the President Akufo-Addo government has made in addressing the issues.

In their bid to make the Government and the MP unpopular, they have not bothered to tell the electorate that the said Dome-Brekusu-Kitase road is to be constructed with the $23.8m Kuwaiti fund signed in September for which procurement is in progress.

They also refuse to tell the electorate that the Aburi-Adamrobe-Oyibi road has been awarded while the communities without electricity will be connected in the next few months.

It is obvious that such campaigns, which damage the efforts the government is making in addressing critical issues in various constituencies, are carried out for parochial interests by desperate aspirants who are not interested in the December 2020 elections.
