When dry bones are mentioned, the aged, many a time, gets uncomfortable. Moreover, why should the tortoise panic at the sound of a gunshot in the forest when it knows that guns are not used to hunt it?

Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante cannot bring himself to fathom why anyone with a good spirit, conscience, would oppose the commendable initiative to build 111 hospitals across the country by the Akufo-Addo administration.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Assin Praso Presbyterian Hospital in the Central Region, the Presby Moderator said politicisation of national issues, like the Agenda 111 project, is taking a toll on the development of the nation.

He said that what beats his imagination in this country is that we find ourselves in abject poverty and someone says he wants to construct 111 health projects and some others are angry. Is it not witchcraft?

He stated further: We allow politics to blind us to the point that as people in abject poverty without good hospitals compared to what we have abroad where a hospital is a hospital and a clinic is indeed a clinic,” he said, adding “and someone says he wants to construct 111 hospitals and you are angry out there, it means you are indeed a witch or wizard incarnate. If you are a pastor looking for witchcraft to exorcise please look for this kind of witchcraft.

These matter-of-factly expressions by Rt. Rev. Prof. Joseph Obiri Yeboah Mante have roiled some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress. They claim the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church has attacked them.

The Man of God hit the nail right on the head. Who, in his right frame of mind, would remain antagonistic towards a decision to construct 111 hospitals across the country? For political reasons, almost every member of the NDC is dead against this all-important project.

While Akufo-Addo is thinking about the health of the Ghanaian people by expanding access to healthcare with these health facilities, John Mahama and his party members are thinking about how that will affect their political fortunes in the next elections.

The Moderator couldn’t have put it better with the description he gave to those opposing the construction of 111 hospitals for the betterment of all Ghanaians. Indeed, these people grumbling and grouching about what the Man of God alluded to are indeed possessed by witchcraft, demons and principalities.
