General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that Ghanaians are lucky to be blessed with a President who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in this period of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

According to him, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Add has shown both in words and in deeds that he will walk the nation out of the coronavirus pandemic.

He urged Ghanaians to, therefore, continue to make life-saving sacrifices by strictly observing the various health protocols needed to stave off the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In a statement to celebrate the Easter, the General Secretary, John Boadu, noted that beyond the laudable measures being rolled out by President Akufo-Addo and the government, it will take God’s intervention to overcome this global health crisis.

He averred that the commitment demonstrated by the government and the overwhelming support of Ghanaians will ensure that sooner than later Ghana will defeat the deadly virus.

He urged Christians to sacrifice for the underprivileged in society through generous contributions, especially in this period of heightened restrictions and lockdowns.

Has called on Christians to use the occasion to intensify prayers to God to heal the world from the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Christians, he said, should give proper meaning to the very essence of Easter and take a cue from the sacrifices of Jesus Christ.

“We should use this occasion to reflect and revive our commitment to the cause of national development,” he said.

According to him, the Easter is meant to commemorate the death and subsequent resurrection of Jesus Christ, which marks the very anchor of Christianity.

This, he said, shows the acknowledgment and appreciation of the sacrifices of Jesus and his eventual triumph over the devil for the salvation of mankind.

Mr. Boadu averred that COVID-19 has become the biggest threat to human survival with 1.4 million infections globally and 83,000 deaths.

This, he stressed, has had an incalculable impact on the global economy and the livelihood of people.

He argued that the situation in Ghana is not different from this global malaise as the nation continues to record rising cases of COVID-19.

He, however, stressed with dedicated supplication to God and the exemplary leadership of the President will ensure  Ghana overcomes the deadly pandemic and give the glory to God and country.
