Accra, Kumasi lockdown extended by one week

The partial lockdown imposed on parts of Accra and Kumasi due to the Coronavirus pandemic has been extended by one more week beginning Monday, April 13, 2020, at 0100 Hours.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced the extension of the restriction of movement in his 6th address to the nation to give an update on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) fight.

He indicated that the government needs more time to determine the exact situation of the country and the next line of action to be taken.

President Akufo-Addo admitted that though the government has put in the needed efforts to curtail and minimize the spread of the virus, the success has not been overwhelming.

Meanwhile, Ghana has confirmed 378 cases of the infection out of which 105 emanated from those who were mandatorily quarantined.

192 of the cases came from those who entered the country before the closures of borders on March 22, 2020.

Six deaths have been recorded of the confirmed cases, four have recovered while two persons are in critical condition.

The remainder of the cases are mild ones and these persons are in isolation, either being managed at home or isolation centres.
