The noble profession has attracted a barrage of public criticism in the past weeks following reports of 81% percent of students failing the exams.
Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the Ghana School of Law, on Wednesday called for the scraping of the school’s Independent Examination Board (IEB), which conducts examination for students.
They also called for remarking of examination scripts of the Ghana Law School students who failed in the May 2017 examination.
Mr Sammy Gyamfi, SRC President of the School called for a review of the school’s Repetition Policy.
But the Effutu lawmaker, one of the proponents of getting the Legislative Instrument seeking to regulate legal education, annulled in the House said the brouhaha over the development is unwarranted asking the students to thread cautiously in the matter.
” My view is that the call for the probe is unnecessary, the media attack on the integrity of IEB, by extension the General Legal Council is also unwarranted, very unnecessary. S.R.C I don’t know who advised them to do what they did, but it is wrong.
He added it’s critical to ensure a system of certainty and not mix the issues up with the IEB results.
“When you register to write an exams and the results does not go well for you, you petition; It’s not another body that exercises that right for and on your behalf. The S.R.C President and his team of executives must get this…in our time, first year if you fail two, you’ll repeat. Final year, if you fail two, you’ll resit, you don’t repeat per se,” the legislator explained on News File Saturday.
