Government has reportedly launched a desperate attempt to redeem its image and absorb itself from the stinky Power Distribution Services (PDS) Limited concession agreement.
The desperation has purportedly sent Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, running to the United States to meet officials of the State Department.
Mr. Ofori-Atta’s journey to the US follows another government mission to Qatar to confer with parties investigating the PDS scandal.
The Minister has been tasked, as leader of the government delegation, to explain details of the report from meetings with Al Koot of Qatar.
Sources indicate the government is worried it could lose legibility to the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), which forms part of the project being carried out by the US for developing African countries.
Ghana qualified under Compact 1 of the MCA, which saw funding being released for the construction of the N1 Highway.
The Compact 2 is expected to be used to retool the energy sector, which saw PDS take over assets and operations of the Electricity of Ghana Company (ECG).
Ministers on the delegation reportedly include Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Deputy Attorney General Godfred Dame, Energy Minister John Peter Amewu and a number of others.
