Municipal Chief Executive of the West Akyem Municipal Assembly (WAMA), Mr. Seth Oduro Boadu, has stated that education in his area is one of the priorities he would want to see improved.

He noted that one should not be left behind in education in this global village.
Mr. Boadu said since he took office as the Municipal Chief Executive on the appointment of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, he has been able to put up some education infrastructure that has gone a long way in helping the education sector in the Municipality.

The MCE stated these when Members of the Centre4TransAtlantic Leadership and Progressive Studies, (CTALPS), a Non-Governmental Organisation based in Atlanta Georgia, United State of America led by Country President, Samuel Osei Agyei called on him at his office.

The group was in the Municipality to collaborate with the Municipal Education Office of the Ghana Education Service to organize a four-day workshop for some selected teachers from primary schools in the Municipality.

The MCE also used the occasion to disclose to the group the business opportunities in the Municipality including education.

“Though you are here for educational purposes, collaborating with the Ghana Education Service to train our teachers in my jurisdiction, let me also use this opportunity to sell to you other investment ideas we have here,” he said.

“By the Grace of God, we have land for both farming and real estate; we have interesting tourism sites including a waterfall that can be developed for commercial tourism. Since you are into education, the Assembly can help you to put up a nursing and teachers’ training schools, which can serve all the towns around and nearby districts,” Mr. Boadu stated.

According to him, such tertiary institutions can also bring in more developments, since the Municipality is being developed rapidly but lack such amenities.

Mr. Seth Boadu with his Coordinating Director, Mr. Mac Paul Ofori welcomed the group and assured them of his and the office’s support in their mission to help in developing education in WAMA and added that the Assembly is ready to partner CTALPS for exchange programs.

They congratulated Mr. Osei Agyei for bringing such a great and important initiative to the town.

Mr. Osei Agyei in turn thanked Mr. Seth Oduro and Mr. Mac Paul Ofori for their warm reception and how he, the MCE has opened his doors to CTALPS for the development of education and other investment opportunities within the municipality.

He said, “We are very excited with the kind reception you have given us, and welcoming us into the Municipality to collaborate with the Municipal office of the Ghana Education Service for the training for the teachers.”

“As the Country President, and also from Anum-Asamankese, I found it very prudent to bring such an opportunity into my area so my teachers will also benefit. As the saying goes, “Charity begins at home.”

“We have had a very fruitful conversation with Mr. Seth Boadi, and he was opened to the group. We did compare the education system in both countries, the USA and Ghana, and how best we can integrate where we lack something.”

“CTALPS is also ready to help the education sector and also conduct other voluntary works,” Osei Agyei added.

The group has since finished with the workshop and the members have returned to the USA. They, however, promised to come again to see how the teachers will use what they were taught.
