The Minority in Parliament has accused the current Nana Addo and Bawumia administration of neglecting the second phase of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital).

The first phase of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital expansion project was initiated by the Mahama administration and was inaugurated in 2016.

During the budget debate, Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Minority Chief Whip, argued that although some physical structures of the Agenda 111 projects may be completed by the end of the President’s second term, operationalization may pose a challenge.

He pointed out that the Akufo-Addo government had suspended the second phase of the Ridge Hospital project and instead invested $250 million in constructing the Bank of Ghana Headquarters.

He stated that many health facilities had been established under President Mahama’s leadership, and building a hospital was a better choice than a bank headquarters.

Dr. Ayew Afriye, the Chairman of the Health Committee, countered that the Agenda 111 projects were well underway and accused the NDC of politicizing the La General Hospital project.
