Concerned delegates of the Asante Akim North Constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) have contributed GH¢1,000.00 to support the candidature of former MP for area, Kwadwo Baa Agyemang, for the parliamentary primary.
The delegates noted that the move is part of efforts to save the party from the shabby performance of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Andy Appiah Kubi.
They lamented that the poor performance of the MP has affected the grassroots and created apathy and dissatisfaction for the party.
At a press conference to endorse the candidature of Baah Agyemang, the concerned delegates observed that government has performed exceptionally well but the output of the legislator is tainting this effort in the Asante Akyem North constituency.
They stated, “This is the reason why we have been motivated as delegates to vote out Hon. Andy Appiah Kubi who has shown gross incompetence, arrogance, vindictiveness, thuggery and selfishness since he assumed power as the Member of Parliament for the Asante Akim North Constituency.”
“We are witnesses to the monumental achievements of Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang during his reign as Member of Parliament for the Asante Akim North Constituency between 2012 and 2016.”
“Even as an opposition MP, he defied all odds to provide the reliefs that his constituents needed.”
“He helped to maintain the sanctity of the Parliamentary seat and ensured that peace, tranquility and oneness prevailed here at the constituency,” the delegates added.
According to them, the leadership being experienced under Andy Appiah Kubi smacks of ineptitude and disgrace and urged other delegates to be patriotic and save the party by voting out the sitting MP.
The kind of leadership the constituency said, the group said, should be that of humility, selflessness, representative and sensitive with the necessary competence to deliver the needful.
“It is, for this reason, we present to you Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, the people’s person.”
“His level of intelligence coupled with his burning desire to empower the youth is a great testament to the fact that we have to do all within our means to ensure that he becomes the face of Asante Akim North constituency once more,” they argued.
The delegates stressed that the NPP is bigger than any individual or MP, hence the welfare of the party should be the first consideration in electing the parliamentary candidate.
