Prez Akufo-Addo, close aides test negative for COVID-19

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reportedly tested negative for the Coronavirus (COVID-19) along with his close appointees and members of his household.

Reports indicate that the tests were conducted after the President had announced the directive for all persons who arrived in the country after March 3 to undergo mandatory testing.

Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah at a media briefing on the Coronavirus noted that as part of protocols, government officials leading the crusade against the COVID-19 have all undergone the testing.

He mentioned that the Minister of Health, Hon. Kweku Agyeman-Manu, the Local Government Minister, the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and other frontline officials like Dr. Nsiah-Asare, Dr. Badu Sarkodie and Dr. Patrick Aboagye.

The Information Minister, however, indicated that the “testing will be extended to other ministers to ascertain their status” in terms of the novel Coronavirus to help in the combat of the global pandemic.

Meanwhile, a source at the Presidency has disclosed that “all staff on both the Third and Fourth floors at Jubilee House were tested and the results turned out to be negative.”

Included in those who were tested are Akosua Frema Opare-Osei, Chief of Staff; Nana Bediatuo Asante, Executive Secretary to the President; Francis Asenso Boakye, Samuel Abu Jinapor, both Deputy Chiefs of Staff; Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at Jubilee House; the President’s Aide de Camp (ADC) and Saratu Atta, Personal Assistant to the President.

The President’s Personal Physician, Dr. Patrina Takyi-Ankrah, also confirmed that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his 98 staff have tested negative to the COVID-19.
