The incident occurred at Amanfrom, a suburb of Asamankese, Lower West Akyem Municipal capital.
The deceased, according to the family was playing in the rain with five other friends in the neighborhood when he fell into an open drainage behind their house and was carried away by the rushing rains.
Several efforts made to save Kwaku Selassie proved futile.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh when contact, confirmed the incident to Frontpageghana and added that search party were still at the spot to retrieve the body.
In a related development, some residents in the Birim North District has also been displaced due to heavy down recorded on Thursday and Friday in parts of the country.
