The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC) has challenged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Parliament to unambiguously state their position on the practice of homosexualism in the country.
The Conference threw the challenge in a statement signed by the Most Rev. Philip Naameh, Metropolitical Archbishop of Tamale and President of the GCBC on Friday.
It condemned in no uncertain terms all those who support homosexual activities in the country.

The statement follows the opening of office space for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) in Accra recently and which has attracted the chagrin of many Ghanaians.
The Catholic Bishops called on the government to immediately shut down the office.
It urged the executive and the legislature not to be cowed or succumb to pressure to legalize the rights of LGBTQIs in Ghana.
The Catholic Bishops expressed their strongest support for the Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning, who has been at the forefront of the fight against attempts to formally introduce homosexuality to the Ghanaian society.

“We support the position of Lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning and the Coalition who for years has been championing the crusade against homosexuality.”
“We also commend other individuals who have spoken in condemnation of this practice. We do this because the Roman Catholic Church is opposed to this abominable practice,” part of the statement read.
Lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning recently condemned the European Union (EU) in Ghana for asking Ghanaians to respect and tolerate LGBTQI individuals in the country.
The EU, he said, should not impose their so-called values and beliefs on Ghanaians who are against homosexuality in reaction to a post issued by the EU’s office in Ghana for the rights of the LGBTQI community to be respected and tolerated.
He has waged a crusade for the shutdown of the new office space for the LGBTQI movement arguing the laws, values and cultural beliefs in Ghana do not allow for such practices.
