The New Patriotic Party’s presumptive successor to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, enjoyed a euphoric reception from the Western Regional New Patriotic Party delegates.
Since his resignation as Minister of Trade and Industry under President Akufo-Addo, effective January 16, 2023, Mr. Alan Kyerematen has been touring various regions of the country courting party delegates.
When his campaign trail got to the Western Region, “Alan Cash,” as the former Trade Minister is colloquially called, was received with enthusiastic welcome, personifying utter support and approval of his candidacy. Delivering a brief message on his policies to the party’s kingmakers in the region, Alan’s amplified voice could hardly permeate the voices of elated supporters who chanted accolades of his achievements in the party and in government.
Alan Kyerematen is a foundation member of the New Patriotic Party and has remained its avowed loyalist, contributing immensely to its cause both in government and in opposition. He is contesting the NPP’s flagbearers for the fourth time after the 2007, 2010, and 2014 contests. This time, the party will undoubtedly reward his forbearance.
Alan has a new dimension for Ghana’s growth and development agenda. He terms it the Great Transformational Plan (GTP), which will be pursued by:
i. Building a Strong Micro-Economic Environment.
ii. Leading a New Agricultural Revolution
Industrial Transformation.
iii. Speeding up our Industrial Transformation
iv. Ensuring Accelerated Infrastructure Development.
v. Finalising a Digital Mainstreaming.
vi. Ensuring Energy Security and Diversification
vii. Prioritising Decarbonization and Climate Resilience
viii. Guaranteeing National Security and Defence Optimization
ix. Considering Downsizing Government.
x. Leading a Strategic Engagement With the International Community.
The feedback from the former advisor at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa’s meeting with the grassroots of the party is so far propitious as his message of the Great Transformational Plan (GTP) has inspired hope amongst them.
