Dear Mr. Mahama,
In your desperation to ascend to the highest office of the land, you have suddenly turned into a doom merchant, highlighting non-existing fear and panic whilst disgracing the country to boot on the international scene.
I have read a story on Ghanaweb attributed to you in which you are reported to have said that the Akufo-Addo government is failing to guarantee the safety of Ghanaians.
You said that the country’s reputation as a peaceful destination in the sub-region is being threatened by the recent spate of violent crimes and kidnappings.
You are said to have made these comments at the final funeral rites of the murdered Richard Bayiviala Polibon the NDC’s Chairman for the Daffiama Busie Issa Constituency of the Upper West Region.
You practically blamed the Akufo-Addo government for failing to protect your party chairman in that constituency. In your conclusion, you said that the assassination of the chairman is a reflection of the state of the insecurity in the country under the current regime.
Mr. Mahama, you painted a rather peaceful atmosphere when you were at the helm of affairs. I would do my best to recall some of the tragic events which characterized your reign.
Before I enunciate the various criminal acts which occurred under you, it is important to remind you that your own party chairman, Elder Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and some of your party’s top guns met to plot to kill the life and soul of this country and have same blamed on Akufo-Addo as that could gift you political power.
The recent spate of crimes could be as a result of the NDC’s planned series of activities aimed at making this country ungovernable for the Akufo-Addo administration. Stop blaming others for crimes which could well have been hatched in your own house.
Under your watch, Mr. Mahama, Peter Kojo Kenyenso, the DCE of Nkwanta South, was gruesomely murdered. The killer(s) was/were never found. I believe the peaceful country Ghana was known to be the world over was never disrupted after that event!
Hon. J. B. Danquah-Adu was assassinated during your presidency. Are we to believe that his killing brought a peaceful atmosphere into the country?
Per your illogical conclusion that your Daffiama chairman’s death should be blamed on Akufo-Addo, can we also stretch the argument that the Upper East regional Chairman of the NPP, the late Adams Mahama, you were solely responsible for it because it happened under your rule.
Your unremitting desire to win power at all cost has made you a blind bat, and I will tell you why. Your party member, one of the Hawks, was gunned down at your party’s Ashanti regional office. Do you mean to tell us that Akufo-Addo’s failure to secure this country led to that sad episode?
Maybe you have forgotten so soon, but do you remember when you made your infamous ‘boot-for-boot’ comment? No sooner had you made that comment than your party’s Hawks turned guns on themselves. You are largely to blame for that bloodshed that occurred in Kumasi at the party’s regional head office.
Let me give you the data on kidnappings from 2014 to 2019 (March). According to official records from the Ghana Police Service, in 2014, there were 74 kidnappings, 2015, there were 43 kidnappings, 2016, there were 56 kidnappings, 2017, there were 51 kidnappings, 2018, there were 56 kidnappings, and 2019, from January to March, there have been 30 reported cases of kidnappings.
Of course, you need not to be enlightened on what the above data reveals. Your 2014 record of 74 kidnappings beats all the others to pulp. It is, therefore, weird that you overlook this bad record of yours and tell the world that those which have happened under this current administration have bested your own unprecedented feat.
Mr. Mahama, we are no strangers to your strategy of painting a gloomy picture of Ghana’s security with the view of making enmity between the Akufo-Addo administration and the international community.
We are also quite aware of your uncanny belief that painting such a hellish scene of Ghana’s security can change the hearts of the over one million Ghanaians who saw you to be unfit to travel beyond 2016 as Ghana’s president.
Head or tail, you have a very poor record when it comes to Ghana’s security under your tenure. Stop making a mockery of yourself with your hollow and empty sermons and prophecies. Your exaggerations of these happenings cannot guarantee you what you are desperately angling for.
Mr. Mahama, the good people of Ghana cannot be hoodwinked into believing that you are a better alternative when the reality is that you are but an old wine bottled in a new container. Ghanaians are quite aware that the alternative is still scary, and that alternative is you!
