African countries can make a tremendous economic progress by leapfrogging technological innovations, and since technology is the bulwark of industrialization, the continent must invest in it to make economic progress, Vice-President Dr. Bawumia has said.

The Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said this on Friday, 12 April 2019, when he was addressing the 2019 Columbia University’s 16th African Economic Forum in New York, United States of America on the theme: “Technology vs Industrialisation: The Way Forward”

He added that it’s very necessary for governments to play a supportive role for the development of technological capabilities in Africa’s quest for industrial pathways.

Dr Bawumia reiterated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration agenda to leverage on technological innovations in shaping Ghana’s industrial path to spell the future of the country’s economic progress.
