According to the experienced politician, it has been his childhood ambition to contest for the Presidency of Ghana, adding that his basic school teachers will not be surprised about his disclosure.
Hon. Bagbin speaking to the media on a wide range of issues in Takpo over the weekend, noted that people would be excited seeing him in the Flagbearership race.
Answering a question whether he’ll run for the position, Mr Bagbin said: “won’t you be happy if I contest?”
Mr. Bagbin who is also the Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo constituency has often denied his interest in the presidency but this latest comment from him may just be a turn around for him.
When quizzed on whether he will support the bid of former president John Mahama, he responded that,” he has good qualities but we will have to go through primaries before we elect our candidate.
” But for me if you even ask my teacher M.A Seidu he will tell you that my dream from childhood has been to become a president so people wont be surprised but you will be happy to see me contest the presidency”, he added.
Meanwhile, the second deputy speaker added that he is not surprised at the attacks on government installations by NPP supporters and that he had anticipated it.
According to him,”this is not new to some of us who have been in the system for sometime. The NPP raised the hopes of their supporters during the campaigns and so they were anticipating the sacking of NDC members so that they will take over but that is not happening. So it will stop but it will take time.”
