Controversy over the disclosure of the autopsy report of Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills persists almost 12 years after the passing of the former President.
Prof. Atta-Mills passed away on July 24, 2012. There are renewed calls for transparency regarding the circumstances of his death.
Despite the family’s stance that they know the cause of his death and are not obligated to make it public, the Kyidomhemaa of Ekumfi Asaman, Nana Enyimfua III, insists that it is essential for the current and future generations to be aware of what led to the former President’s demise.
During a visit to the Jubilee House on Friday, Nana Enyimfua III, along with a delegation that included Samuel Koku Anyidoho, the founder of the Atta Mills Institute, conveyed the family’s demand to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
In response, President Akufo-Addo acknowledged the legitimacy of the family’s request and assured them of cooperation in disclosing the autopsy report.
The visit also served as a reminder to the President of his commitment to facilitating substantial development in Ekumfi, the hometown of the late Atta Mills.
The family expressed gratitude for the improvements made to Asomdwoe Park, where the former President was laid to rest.
