Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi and some key party members have visited the Manhyia Palace to engage with the Kumasi Traditional Council.

This visit comes in the wake of allegations regarding derogatory comments made by Chairman Wontumi against the Asantehene, leading to the Council’s demand for clarification.

Accompanying the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were several prominent NPP figures, including the Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah, Chieftaincy Minister Asamoah Boateng, Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, National Chairman Stephen Ntim, General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, National Organizer Henry Nana Boakye, National Treasurer Dr. Charles Dwamena, and other regional executives of the NPP.

The Kumasi Traditional Council had previously instructed Wontumi to present himself for a hearing.

This directive responded to an incident involvingWontumi and the Kokosohene, Nana Kwaku Dua while vetting parliamentary aspirants in the Ashanti region.

The meeting at the Manhyia Palace holds significant implications for Wontumi, as it aims to address the Traditional Council’s concerns and potentially resolve the tensions arising from the altercation.
