One of the witnesses in the on-going 2020 Election Petition at the Supreme Court, Mr. Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, has revealed to the Court that he was served tea by the Electoral Commissioner’s secretary when he went to her office to consult on some issues.

Mr. Mettle-Nunoo, a third witness for Mr. John Dramani Mahama who took his turn on Monday to testify for the NDC from hospital via Zoom, said he went to the Electoral Commissioner’s office to report to her some irregularities he had observed during the collation of results.

However, while he was waiting to see the Chairperson, he was served tea without biscuits and spent about three hours there.

“I was offered tea but I wasn’t offered tea and biscuits,” Mr. Mettle-Nunoo said this to the laughter of the court.
In an aggressive and emotional manner, Mr. Rojo Mettle-Nunoo clashed many times with Justine Amenuvor, the Electoral Commissioner’s lawyer during cross-examination.

When he was asked of his temperament and rude character during the cross-examination by the Lawyer, Mr. Mettle-Nunoo said; “I have a temperament for fairness, a temperament for wanting to tell the truth and fighting for what is right.”

In his explanation, he said the former chairman of the EC, Dr. Afari Gyan, gave various representatives of Presidential candidates of political parties in the strong room opportunity to correct some mistakes if any before the final declaration of results.

Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa, he said, the current chair of the EC never gave opportunities to the representatives to do so when they raised it.
“Dr. Afari Gyan gave an opportunity for errors to be corrected,” he said during cross-examination from the hospital.

Mr. Mettle-Nunoo was one of the NDC’s two agents at the National Collation Centre (strong room) of the Electoral Commission.

The witness had his 32-paragraph statement filed on Thursday but five paragraphs were expunged on the grounds that those paragraphs have no basis in law.
