Energy Minister, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh has led an energy sector delegation to the 13th Session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

This is in line with Ghana’s efforts in the renewable energy area within the context of the country’s target of scaling up renewable energy penetration in Ghana by 10% by 2030.

The move by the Energy Ministry to join colleagues in UAE is to draw the attention of attendees to the investment opportunities in Ghana’s renewable energy space through strategic engagements at the conference and on its margins.

While there, the energy sector delegation from Ghana will participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023, where the President of the Republic, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to deliver a statement relating to energy, technology and climate change.

Energy Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh is optimistic that “our engagements here in Abu Dhabi will yield the needed results for the growth and advancement of Ghana’s energy sector”.

Pursuant to these efforts, I am currently leading an energy sector delegation at the 13th Session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The platform brings together Heads of State, Ministers and energy decision-makers among its Membership and States-in-Accession, as well as multilateral organizations, global stakeholders and private sector players.

We are seeking to draw the needed attention to the investment opportunities in our renewable energy space through strategic engagements at the conference and on its margins.

The Ghanaian delegation will also participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2023, where the President of the Republic, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to deliver a statement relating to energy, technology and climate change.

I remain optimistic that, our engagements here in Abu Dhabi will yield the needed results for the growth and advancement of Ghana’s energy sector.
