Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu has made a passionate appeal to the Speaker of the House to haul in the Minister of Health to address the House on the Coronavirus.

According to him, representatives of the people need to be updated on the situation by the Minister for Health and all other institutions responsible and the steps being taken protect Ghanaians.

“They must take urgent and critical steps to protect our citizens within and outside the country from possible attack of this virus,” he stated.

Haruna Iddrisu made the call when he contributed to a statement on the Coronavirus on the floor of the House.

He noted that some countries including the United States have restricted their citizens from travelling to China and the regions that have recorded outbreak of the virus and limited same to essential travels.

Ghana, he said, needs to follow such example and accordingly restrict its citizens from similar travels except the ones that would be considered essential.

He urged Ghanaians who for urgent reasons must travel to China to be guarded by the epidemic in order not to become victims of the epidemic.

The Minority leader warned that the infection is close on Ghana’s corridors, especially after a student in Cote d’Ivoire tested positive for the virus after returning from China, hence the need to be guided.

“I repeat my call that the Minister for Health be hauled to the House to apprise us on the steps he is taking to contain it with other allied health institutions,” he said.
