According to Mr. Boamah, he is committing GHc₵100,000 annually into the fund, which is expected to be disbursed to needy but brilliant students in Junior High Schools and Tertiary Institutions from his constituency.

“My believe is that the country has offered me the opportunity, and I must also support the young ones to also get to where I am today, that is where I take my inspiration from”, he said.

“This is a constituency in Accra but has a lot of poor people within the community who needs help, sometimes you go round the schools, the shoes that the kids wear, the books, pencils, basic teaching materials are lacking”, he said this at the launch at Abeka in Accra.

He admitted that he is often saddened by the situation around the schools in the community and wonders how the students can compete with students from far developed and endowed private schools.

“The school structures don’t inspire me, I believe there is more that we have to do in the area of education and I believe the government is very committed to supporting the educational sector and the President is introducing various initiatives that will go a long way to support the young ones here, so we will have parents who would be motivated to sponsor their own kids to attain the heights in the educational ladder.”

In addition, Hon. Patrick Boamah donated 5,000 exercise books, 11 boxes of text books and 2,000 shoes to be distributed to the schools within the community to complement the efforts of the President to give quality education to every kid within the country.

The Legislator representing the people of Okai Okaikoi Central in Parliament, Hon. Patrick Boamah is also the Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Government has also announced a free education policy for Senior High School students beginning in September 2017/2018 academic year.
