NDC fiercest-critic activist, Dela Coffie is causing a storm on social media with a scathing epistle he shared about former Deputy Chief of Staff to President John Mahama, Dr Valerie Sawyer.

Valerie Sawyer had previously authored an epistle dubbed “Goliath, David is Coming” which she allegedly painted that “there’s nothing glorious about JJ’s revolution” and that the only thing she remembers about the revolution is pain and tears.

Dela Coffie has descended heavily on the former Chief of Staff, describing her as a traitor and very disingenuous.

“How conveniently self-serving of you, Valerie Sawyer? Those who have come round to enjoy the booty of the NDC’s struggle and transformation dating back to June 4 1979 have suddenly forgotten where it came from, when it started and how it started? Today these traitors think Jerry Rawlings and his revolution is no longer relevant to the NDC?” Dela Coffie quizzed.

He reminded Valerie Sawyerr that “The NDC that you pride yourself in as a member is a direct descendant of June 4 1979 and December 31 1981. The party’s constitution rightly recognised this and it has internalized June 4 as the revolution day. Again, article 6 of the NDC constitution stipulates that flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings is the founding father of the NDC and the party was established on his vision and leadership.”

The full text of Dela Coffie’s epistle is reproduced below:

Dear Valerie Sawyer,

I’m puzzled about your attacks on the June 4 revolution and the founder of the NDC in your latest work titled: “Goliath, David is Coming.” I’ve seen a plethora of political shenanigans in my adult life, but never before have I seen the sort you’ve been engaging in lately.

I literally had to laugh out loud at your disingenuous outrage, but what’s not funny at all is your attempt to dishonour the ‘79 revolution even after your family directly benefited from it spoils.

For the heck of me, I am trying to figure out, how an established lawyer, cougar and self-acclaimed NDC power broker has anything to gain by desecrating the very foundation the NDC was built on.

Valerie, would you burn your bridge before crossing it? Of all the issues bedevilling the NDC and Ghana for that matter, your criticality is only limited to tearing Jerry Rawlings apart?

There’s nothing glorious about JJ’s revolution, you say? You cringe anytime you hear of June 4 and December 31? And did you also say you only remember the pain and tears of JJ’s revolution?

Really, Valerie? The revolution that gave birth to the NDC that the last two ‘generations’ of the Sawyers thrived on is not worth commemorating?

Do you not realize how pathetic and ridiculous you look by engaging in these shenanigans? You actually believe this pathetic display of hysteria and freak show helps the cause of the John Mahama campaign of which you play an integral part?

How conveniently self-serving of you, Valerie Sawyer? Those who have come round to enjoy the booty of the NDC’s struggle and transformation dating back to June 4 1979 have suddenly forgotten where it came from, when it started and how it started? Today these traitors think Jerry Rawlings and his revolution is no longer relevant to the NDC?

*** Dr Valerie Sawyer

Well, before you prance around with your hideously ignorant and misinformed histrionics, let me remind you of a few pesky facts.

The NDC that you pride yourself in as a member is a direct descendant of June 4 1979 and December 31 1981. The party’s constitution rightly recognised this and it has internalized June 4 as the revolution day. Again, article 6 of the NDC constitution stipulates that flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings is the founding father of the NDC and the party was established on his vision and leadership.

Need I remind you that the flame of the NDC that gives you a sense of belongness was lighted back in June 4th 79 and December 31st 1981?

I am indeed trying my utmost not to be caustic but tell me Valerie; have your senses taken leave of you or you have actually taken leave of them? How could anyone in his or her sane mind who claims to be an activist of the NDC downplay the ideals of June 4th revolution?

It is sheer foolishness to make such an assertion. There is no one basis for any NDC activist that has common sense and a brain to conclude that June 4 is an aberration, and as such I shudder to think how a person like you whose intellect is struggling to grasp this simple logic can successfully influence national policy and help John Mahama win power.

How do some of you manage in your right senses to come to terms with the understanding that, hounding Rawlings out of the NDC is compatible with the return of the NDC to power?

Valerie Sawyer, you are not the cause of what is broken, you are just the latest and most extreme symptom of what’s gone wrong in the NDC. Your mentality seems adolescent and peer driven.

The only way the NDC will ever win again is if the likes of you are not allowed an inch close to the party’s future campaign and actually have an agenda other than denigrating Rawlings.

You can decide not to live the ideals, values and principles of the NDC. You can also choose to dishonour the revolutionary antecedents of the NDC, but you can’t take away the fact that the goose that lays the golden egg for the NDC is Jerry Rawlings and his Revolution. Take it or leave it.
