Alex Amolbugri Avoka, the Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate (APC) for Binduri Constituency, has been disqualified from contesting in the upcoming Parliamentary Primaries slated for January 27, 2024.

The disqualification notice, signed by Regional Secretary Elvin Alta Awonchai, states that Avoka committed serious offenses during the vetting process conducted by the National Parliamentary Vetting Committee (NPVC) on January 3, 2034.

The notice accused Avoka of forging signatures and thumbprints on his nomination forms, which is a criminal act. It also accused him of falsifying his date of birth to benefit from a 50% discount on filing fees meant for aspirants under 40 years of age.

The most damning accusation is that the aspirant lied about having a Bachelor of Business Administration (Human Resources) from the Christian Service University College in Kumasi. An investigation revealed that Avoka had never enrolled in the said institution.

The notice indicated Avoka has a right to appeal the NPVC’s decision and directed him to the Appeals Committee, as per the rules, regulations, and election guidelines of the party.

Regional Secretary Elvin Alta Awonchai stressed the party’s commitment to integrity, saying, “The decision to disqualify Mr. Avoka was made with utmost seriousness, reflecting our dedication to preserving the highest standards of transparency and honesty in our electoral processes.”
