Frontpageghana.com can authoritatively say the residents are warming up to stage a demonstration against the New Patriotic Party(NPP) government and President Akufo-Addo should the President go ahead to re-appoint the incumbent MCE.
According to the residents, the incumbent MCE, Mr. Offinam Takyi has been very disappointing and disrespectful person and who doesn’t have welfare of the Municipality at heart.
The residents, in many instances, accused Mr. Offinam Takyi as a person who grabs everything meant for the people to his family.
Information available to this portal indicates that Mr. Offinam Takyi once gave more than enough school feeding contracts to his family members, apart from awarding scholarships to himself and his family.
Sources at the Tano South Municipal Assembly told this portal that Mr. Offinam Takyi gave contracts to two schools in his hometown, Dwomo, to his biological sister and about ten schools also to his wife, Joyce Offinam Takyi.
These 10 schools are scatted in various towns and villages in the Municipality.
The source said there many women who are have not benefited, and could have been given at least a school to prepare meals for.
The MCE, however, turned a blind eye and allegedly awarded all these schools to his wife without consulting anyone, not even the party Executives in the Constituency.
Checks from the Assembly also revealed that out of the numerous people with disabilities in Tano South, the MCE has on two occasions picked his biological brother, Ntiamoah Awoso as government appointee to represent people with disability. This has also angered some PWDs with the NPP government.
Some are asking why Mr. Offinam Takyi would appoint his blood brother two times to the Assembly to represent them when that could be rotated.
These are some of the reasons why some constituents have risen up against his re-appointment bid as most of the party members are angry with him over these.
Sampling the views of some of the party members, frontpageghana.com learnt that the general belief is that the MCE is greedy and must not become their MCE again.
Some residents made it clear to yours truly that if Nana Addo appoints Mr. Offinam Takyi for a second time, they will also advise themselves, reminding the party that the difference between their political rivals should not be taken for granted.
