The Majority Caucus in the Ghanaian Parliament has stated that it has no interest in leaking the travel expenditure and medical records of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban S.K. Bagbin to the Public for him to be ridiculed.
The Majority in a press statement dated 9th December, 2021 said, it has learnt with great shock of numerous allegations against them leaking a purported medical and travel expenditure of Rt. Hon. Speaker and being circulated on various social media platforms.
They said, “The Majority Caucus, to avoid doubt, has no interest in such an irresponsible deed.”
According to them, they have to protect the Speaker’s integrity, the Chair and the Parliament of the Republic Ghana, and find such publications unfortunate and unwarranted, and condemn such accordingly.
“However if the persons behind the publications intend to set the Speaker and the Majority Caucus in the Parliament of Ghana on a collision course, we would not hesitate to offer the appropriate response”, they warned.
In a related development the statement also calls on the general public to disregard rumours that, the Leader of the Majority Caucus, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu is also seeking medical attention in Dubai with expenses catered for by Parliament.
They noted that the Suame Member of Parliament has not taken a dime from Parliament to seek and or receive medical attention in Dubai and that there is no trace of truth in such allegation.
“There is no scintilla of truth in the allegation, and it should, thus, be disregarded entirely for its spuriousness and hopelessness”, they said.
