The Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament has expressed its readiness to interrogate, not just the CVs of the President’s nominees to various ministries, but also records of those appointees who served in the previous government.

The NDC Caucus, led by the Hon. Haruna Iddrisu made this statement when he briefed the media in Parliament on Friday after adjournment.

The Minority Leader, said, “But we are ready to interrogate, not the just the CV, but the records of his appointees. What they must do clearly, is to make sure that copies of handing over notes are made available to us, as required by the Presidential Transition Act, Act 845.”

Speaking on other issues, the Tamale South Member of Parliament, also noted that his side is monitoring closely and don’t understand why some key regions were left out and have no representation in President Akufo Addo’s Cabinet as stated in the 1992 Constitution that all should have representation in cabinet.

Touching briefly on the new ministry created by President Akufo-Addo, he said, “What strike us most as a group even though we will interrogate these matters at the Appointment Committee, is the ambiguous creation of a new Ministry of Public Enterprises. And why, the ministries themselves are public enterprises, State owned institutions are public enterprises.”

“Not a while ago, he came to Parliament to pass a new legislation, putting all those enterprises under a new legislation. One would have thought that he would have used the rendition of that law, Act 990 to create the Ministry of Public Enterprises,” he added.
