The Upper West Regional Commander of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) has deplored a new drug craze where some youth smoke dried faeces and drink water from used sanitary pads.

He lamented that though the abuse of traditional drugs such as marijuana has reduced partly due to the new discovery, this new craze is equally devastating.

Mr. Issahaque Bakuri disclosed this when the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery called on him as part of his official tour of the region.

According to him, it is difficult to fight the new drug craze due to the lack of specific laws against the act.

He appealed to the Minister to help devise means to stop it and facilitate the enactment of laws to fight the new trend of substance abuse.

NACOB, he said, has been carrying out sensitization and education on the dangers of drug abuse including smoking faecal matter and drinking water from used sanitary pads to help end the menace.

Mr. Dery who was in the region to interact with the security agencies to ascertain their challenges pledged to facilitate the enactment of an all-inclusive law to fight all forms of drug abuse in the country.

He advised the youth not succumb to substance abuse under the impression of making them feel high.
