A former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yaw Buaben Asamoa, has asserted that the party has devolved into an empty shell.

A prominent member of Alan Kyeremanten’s Movement for Change, Buaben Asamoa criticized the NPP, claiming that it is being commandeered by a select few individuals, causing a departure from its foundational principles.

During an interview on Asempa FM, the former Member of Parliament for Adentan lamented the influence of what he termed, “mafia tactics,” which he believes have tarnished the party’s appeal.

He predicted a significant exodus of NPP members to the Movement for Change, emphasizing that the NPP has lost its substance.

In his scathing critique, Asamoa accused the hijackers within the party of employing tactics that have damaged its integrity.

He asserted that many influential figures within the NPP, particularly those aligned with Alan Kyeremanten, will soon publicly express their support, viewing it as a righteous cause.

The rift within the NPP escalated when Asamoa, along with three others – Hopeson Adorye, former General Secretary Nana Ohene Ntow, and former Madina MP Boniface Abubakar Saddique – were expelled from the party for endorsing Alan Kyeremanten, who had chosen to run as an independent presidential candidate.

Following their expulsion, Asamoa has continued to voice his apprehensions about the current state of the NPP across various media platforms.
