All upcoming End of Year Parties in public institutions should be immediately canceled by the President, Heads of Public Institutions, and State Agencies, the New Ghana Social Justice Forum (NGSJF) has called out.

Yahaya Alhassan, the President of NGSJF, expressed grave concern over the economic hardships facing Ghanaians, citing hyperinflation of 35%, one of the highest in decades.

He attributed the dire economic situation in the country to rampant corruption and mismanagement within these entities.

Alhassan stated, “Ghana is with the begging bowl at the IMF, and this is a result of the systematic loot and share by public officials.”

The petition emphasized the immediate need for financial prudence and highlights the struggles of over 850,000 Ghanaians already living in poverty.

Alhassan remarked, “It is national betrayal and exploitation of scarce resources should government institutions stubbornly jettison this petition.”

The Forum outlined the economic challenges, including threats to investors and bondholders, arrears in the District Assembly Common Fund, and stalled projects in education infrastructure due to the mortgaging of GETFUND.

NGSJF warned that it will report non-compliant public institutions to the Ghana Police Service.

Alhassan warned, “We urge the authorities to act accordingly and arrest any institution that disobeys this noble petition, continuing with frivolous End of Year Parties while essential needs remain unmet.”
