They allowed complacency to engulf the better part of their reasoning, and that also sent them downhill.
Their insufferable arrogance, fuelled by an over-reliance on monies acquired through dubious means as a result of their proximity to the corridors of power, was also another factor which sent them out of power.
Politics is pragmatic, but these folks somehow assumed that there are set rules which must be strictly adhered to if one wants to make a stronger case for annexing the ultimate in an election.
These and other equally pertinent factors were the major contributory reasons which helped in torpedoing the NDC from the comfortable lead they sheepishly thought they had.
The aforementioned facts make nonsense of the unflinching desire by Samuel Ofosu-Ampofoh and his assigns to blame Jerry John Rawlings for their woes!
To unveil the reason behind the allusion above, the director for elections in the December polls, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofoh, who was speaking on Class 91.3FM, has launched scathing attacks on the personality of the founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings, over the “unexpected” defeat of the party he birthed years gone by. Ofosu-Ampofoh contends that former President Rawlings owed it a duty to ensure the survival of the party he founded. It was incumbent on him to support the party through thick and thin, but his posturing prior to, during and after the elections was not in consonance with the huge responsibilities his position as founder automatically accord him.
Ofosu-Ampofoh finds it a difficulty coming to terms with the sudden level of cordiality brewing between the former president and President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
What was more of a puzzle to the leadership of the NDC was the fact that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo mentioned the name of the former president in his victory speech, and thanked him profusely for his support and pieces of advice.
Outgone President, John Mahama, would defy all the odds to insult the intelligence of Ghanaians with his signature tune of Ghanaians being imbued with the infectious attribute of forgetfulness. Many a man was taken aback by that allusion, but Samuel Ofosu-Ampofoh’s latest vituperative attacks on the Rawlingses is in conformity with that exceptionable thinking of former president John Mahama.
Let me snap you out of any form of confusion my long, winding statements may generate in your mind by baring it all to you.
Asiedu Nketia zealously attacked the Rawlingses, describing them as barking dogs who had been tamed with impregnable chains. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofoh and his other executives jollified over this irresponsible act of Asiedu Nketia. I believe the ex-president had been momentarily stripped of his founder position, so it was needless for him to be revered.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa smeared the wife of Jerry John Rawlings with disrespect, and this was overlooked by Ofosu-Ampofoh and his cohorts. They divorced the Rawlingses from all their campaign activities in the last elections.
It is therefore the height of insincerity on the part of Ofosu-Ampofoh to cite Rawlings as the causative agent to the humiliating humbling of the NDC in the December 7 elections.
Confusion has gripped them, and they are always eager to blame others for their woes.
