Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament has denied allegations of influence or favour as a consideration for the approval of some of the President’s ministerial nominees.
According to the Caucus, it has never been and would never be for sale and stressed its resolve to hold the Akufo-Addo government accountable at all time.
A statement from the Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, acknowledged the disappointment of the rank and file of the party at the outcome of the ministerial vetting and the approval of certain nominees.
He, however, assured the party faithful they would not be let down in future.

The statement followed sharp criticism of the Caucus by the National Communication Officer of the NDC on Facebook who took issue with the approval of certain nominees of the President.
Mr. Iddrisu noted the anger of the party’s base and grassroots is justifiable in that they have had cause to reject and even condemn the decision of the House to approve three of the nominees.
He said, “The Leadership and entire Parliamentary caucus of the NDC wish to reiterate our commitment to the cause of the great National Democratic Congress.”
“We expressly reaffirm our resolve to hold the Akufo-Addo government to account over the coming days, months and years for their stewardship to the Ghanaian people. This is non-negotiable.”
“The Caucus has never been and would never be for sale. We categorically deny all allegations of influence or favour as a consideration for the approvals in the House.”
“It is important to note that we are parties of equal strength with; NDC 137 and NPP 137+1, how we wish we had just 140. We acted in accordance with our oath of office and in good faith and conscience, ” he added.

The Caucus, he said, holds dearly the founding principles of probity, accountability and social justice in every engagement on behalf of the party.
He assured that the Minority remains loyal to the party’s base and called for restraint and calm.
“We ask all NDC faithful to have faith in the Caucus leadership as we navigate our path to recapturing the Presidency in 2024.”
“The Caucus would lead the vanguard with the support of our loyal grassroots. May we always be reminded that the things which bind us as comrades far outweigh whatever may divide us,” he added.
He called for calm nerves as leadership at all levels continue to offer direction towards the party’s coming victory.
The Caucus, he said, is the same one that on 6/7th January 2021 achieved the unthinkable feat of electing Rt. Hon. Alban S.K. Bagbin as Speaker.
He urged all party members to keep the faith and be measured in their utterances as they seek to raise the NDC up together.
